Tutorial

Conducting a podcast, or as we call it “salescast”, is very very simple. The point of the podcast is to make the guest look really good so that they KNOW, LIKE, and TRUST you (pillars of marketing).

Here is a basic script to follow:

Minute 1 to 5: Pre-Recording

Get to know them, ask them if they have any questions before the interview.

Minute 5 to 20: Conduct Interview

Ask them questions that are relevant to the podcast. For example, if you are interviewing IT managers about best practices in IT, all you have to do is ask them “what are the best practices in IT?”.

Remember, you are the expert on this field, and so are they. So anything you ask or talk about in this interview is fair game. Just try to make them look really good.

Here are some example questions:

  1. Can you tell us about the history and background of your business?
  2. How did you first get started in your industry?
  3. Can you walk us through your overall business strategy?
  4. How have you adapted to changes in your industry over the years?
  5. Can you share any specific tactics or tools that have been particularly effective for growing your business?
  6. Can you talk about any challenges or obstacles you've faced in your business and how you overcame them?
  7. Can you speak to any metrics or KPIs you use to measure the success of your business?
  8. How do you stay up to date with the latest trends and developments in your industry?
  9. Can you discuss any partnerships or collaborations you've formed to help grow your business?
  10. What advice would you give to other business owners looking to succeed in your industry?

At the end of the interview, you can say:

“Thanks for being on the show. What is the best way for people to get in touch with you or do you have any offers for them that they can take advantage of?”

Minute 20 to 25: The Ask

Make chit chat after the interview and thank them for being on the show.

Then, casually, slip in the question: “do you know what it is that we do?”

If they say no, say “would you like me to share some more information about it?”

If they say yes, say “cool! Would you like to know a little more about it?”

Your conversion rate on this should be 50-70% from podcast interview to sales qualified meeting. If it is lower than that, please reach out for help at help.twiz.io

Minute 25 to 45: Conduct Workshop or Presentation

After they say yes, you should conduct a small workshop or presentation in order to close them.

We recommend a workshop more than a presentation because they are way more interactive and give more value to the customer. But, if you must give a presentation, you can use ours as an example below.

After the workshop, MAKE SURE to schedule a follow up call to continue working on the material or simply review the offer if they are interested. Do NOT leave this to chance.
